Canteen debacle

Yesterday the canteen in my office organized a traditional food festival ..
It was done inorder to break the monotonous food that we people had to have everyday .

The menu included all traditional tamil food . Ofcourse the price for each item were raised and it was costly . With all music and decoratons the ambience was good . Everyone were expecting some good food .. Standing in long Queues to get the meals , hoping to have something tasty ..after a good quarter an hour wait or so everyone found out that its time to run to the nearby hotel !!

The food was much below the normal level they used to delliver ..

wow What a weekend !!

This weekend i made my first visit to Banglore - so called silicon valley of India. The city has been flooded with jobs for the past two decades and considering that and its climate , i have made this trip quite late . But its alwys "Better Late than Never " .

I feel in love with the city on my first sight itself. The climate is the most pleasant thing in Bgl . Temp well below 30 and the cool breeze quite contrasting to the sultry weather in my city .

It was a wonderful get together of all our training batch mates in Bgl .We went to a Theme park Wonder La in Bgl - Mysore highway . All the riddes were quite exiting and adventurous
. It was a nice decision by fellow batchmate Ankit to spend the day there . Then we had a candle light dinner at a nice restaurant . Wonderful way to commomerate our first anniversary ofour ILP .

The next was spent in visiting malls, famous shopping Bazzars .We spent the whole day outside but not a drop of sweat !! All the products were were branded and quite attractive but costly..

I wanted to buy a Sun glasses , jeans ,Shirts , leather Bags . shoes ..

Guess what i purchased - oops - Its just a couple of Books :-)

hope i get transferred to Bgl as early as possible ..

My First Anniversary in TCS

Today I complete one year in TCS.. I still remember this day last year in coimbatore. My first entry into corporate world , where we were given a lucid picture of the company and its policies . I really got a feel that i am entering a group of elites and stepping into abord of heaven .

Being placed in TCS through campus one expects the company to intimate the date of joining at the earliest , but that does not seem to be the case with TCS. They had entered my info wrongly and i was kept in the dark for quite sometime . ppl started questionning me if i am really placed in TCS . Atlast the call letter came , I am asked to report for ILP in cbe .

the Initial Learning Program inCbe is athorough fun. Wewere made to work from 8 in the moring to 12 in night .. But it never really mattered. Its the time when i really lived " Work Hard , Party Hard "Way .. Whenever someone utters the word cbe , it still brings sweet memories of ILP to my mind.

With lot of friends and some good brush up of my software knowledge i really had the feel that had an excellent start to my career . I was asked to report in JNR .. after my ILP and i have been here since . So far its the only branch in TCS i have worked . I hardly knew then that my honeymoon period in TCS had come to an end. :-(

Since then i have learnt to look my life in quarters.. Probably its because most of the things right from appraisal to policy decisions have been evaluated only in quarters ..

My first Quarter in JNR
Half this quarter went in reading Dan Browns and Eric Segals.. I was put in bench for a month or so and then allotted in a project

It took me some time to adjust to the tectonic shift , from joyful days in ILP to
professional life in AIG ( America International Group - one of the major insurance comapny in america - its my client ). U solve the issue u have people talking to you otherwise u r an unwanted species there . I took sometime to move from unwanted species group to a respected one. But even after that i had the feel that i am the fish out of water .

My Second Quarter in JNR

I had my first major enahncement in this quarter . Got appreciated and nashed up for the same . Then started with my seconfd enhancement . Life has been nothing other than work in this quarter . When these enhancements come i do nothing else in life . Its planned considering that we can work 18/7 in office.During those days when i had enhancements i had to ask permission for taking off on saturdays and sundays :-) ..


My Third Quarter in JNR
I completed my second major enhacement . completed my confirmation presentation..
Got a rating of 4 on 5 . Not many get 4 ..But quite a few do get ..

Quately after Quartely TCS profits have been soaring high at a notable pace and my enthusiasm to stay in TCS have been coming down at an equal pace . May be TCS doesnot care enough beacause its growing at an extrodinary rate .. At the each of Quarter i do hear that my salary is gonna increase but hte only thing that increases is my waist size :-(



Nine months into JNR , I ask myself where i have been led to . I did spent most part of these nine months in office , But that has not built me into anyone. My work life has been lifeless for most part of the year except for a few big enhancements in two three projects...

I have not derived any satisfaction out of work here . I am not surprised as seems to be..

Inspite of these shotcomings , i will truly treasure my experience in TCS as it is my first company and for those beautiful days in ILP.

My first Shidney Sheldon

It always feels good to be back home . It gives me immense security and brings back my old childhood memories. On my way to the station i decided to grab some ggod magazines or books . The weekly "Week" had an attractive cover story on "Hot Jobs " . but did not have much substance in it . The price of the magazine has gone up by 33 % without any change in the articles .. Then I landed up in a second hand book shop and i had quite a few to choose from , Archers , Grishams , Crichton .. but landed up with a sheldon as the font size was bigger and i havenot reallyread one . had to pick up a decent title too as i am heading towards my home .. i cant read titles like " The other side of mid night " infront of my mom who saw ne after three four months .. My next quartely advice will depend on my behaviour durng the visit .. So I grabed a decent one tilted "Blood Line ".

The plot is abt hw one Elizabeth Roffe rescues the pharma company Roffee and sons from being devastated . Samuel Rofee founded this company in 19th century in Germany.Hw he founded the company was the best part of the entire book. Samuel had his mother die due to lack of proper attention from doctor . Some 3 doctors treated 1000 jews in that well guarded village .. So he wanted to become a doctor . He grazxed near the house of the HEad Doctor in that village .. and got attracted to his daughter too ..He had to prove himself to the doctor within six months to marry Doctors daughter. He worked hard on the medicine but could not acheive anything for five months.. He almost gave up the hope of marrying his lover .. but Some how with all the difficulties he managed to produce a anti bodies for a epdimeic disease and prove himself to the doctor .. and thus Roffee and Sons were born .. Any Success after all those hardships will be to cherished to eternity .. just like GoranIvanisevic wiining the wimbledon !!



Since then Roffee and Sons had been a privately held company .Samuel had five sons and he sent each one to different couintry to establih the branch of his company there . As the generations passed by all son-in-laws to the heirs of the thrown wanted some money for one reason or other and wanted it to go public .Added to this some secret sell outs of formaula and a few fatal accidents to bring down company image ..

I finished the book in three days , but read mostly in the train .. The plot to a certain extent was predictable , but shidney did manage to give a twist in the end .Added to the mystery story line there is enough scope for porno i his work ..The style is lucid and the language is simple . ITs a good grab for ppl who want to travel

Chod dho pluto ko .. Earth is calling

Cities are accomodating a lot opf talented people from various part of the country . The standard of living is quite high here. With 24/ 7 net electricity and easy access to everything on earth ..

But one drive into the city when the traffic is at it peak .. half the life is gone.

The dust and pollution makes it difficult for ppl to move from one place to another.

I just made a small 10 km travel to book my tiockets for Bgl.. my face has collected all the garbage in the city . I wish scientist find a pollution free vehicle instead of working on finding iout whats o pluto .. which is a few light years from our planet .. hy do we have to worry about a planet when we have a lot to work in our plaet itself

Quiziing Woes

My woes with quizzing continues.. Last weekend pickbrain conducted TATA Crucible and i cud not even clear prelims .. HAving an idea of pickbrain thought process i felt i cud clear prelims.. Looking for ways to crack his quiz ..



CAT fever is running eye with everyone getting mileage out of this .. Me a CAT vetran is also in the contest competing for a coveted seat in IIM . with increase in half an hour of the exam .. CAT has thrown a surprise agai and the commoton it would create is pretty high ..Each traiing institute will introduce a new pattern .. but he bottomline is if ur aptitude is high u shd be able to clear the exam and thanks to TIME for increasing my scores through their inaccurate correction

America is filled with Choclates

One good thing about my project is ppl keep coming from onsite ( NewJersey ,USA ) and without any exception everyone bring Hersheys choclates.and everyone gets atleast one ..whats so special about Hersheys .. Is it so sacred in US or plenty ? Yeah the choclates tastes good. But why doppl dont bring anything else . Probably it gives them the satisfaction that they bring something for everyone in the project and in a way it will also fit the wallet .

But even my cousins bring only choclates !!Is there not anything ppl vould think of buyoing ? Is US filled with Choclates and nothing else ?? or do the Americans attach love and affection with choclates .Eagerly waiting to discover it myself in AMerica :-)

FIFA World Cup So Far

FIFA world cup that started two weeks back has been pretty intersting .After the look@ first two roundsof matches, Argentina and Germany looksfav too win the cup . Unfortunately bothare in the same league and only oe can mak eittoo finals . My Fav Brazil is not in full swing ..But all the forward in Braxil has class.. " C;lass is permenant and Form is Temperory ." I wish these guys strike to form in the net match . Luckily They will not face in form teams till semis ..

I like Brazil play for their passion . Though everyone are tooinvolved , there must be some extra passionj in Brazil..i wish icud spend somepartof my life in Brazi .. learning Samba dance ..

Argentina Could be onee major threat to Brazil .. They have not faced challenging teams ..Their Face off Against Netherlands willa ctually hold more clue to their Chances

Sir, I am yet to ..

There used to be a time when i will happy to acknowledge ,i have done the work fraster than my fellow mates . The mere acknowledgement that i am faster gave me a superior feeling . But right now , things are different. I am afraid tell my BOss that i am done with my module , for he is always ready to dump with another module . The fear of being overworked is keeping me away from completing the work faster. .. So as far as possible my answers to my boss is " Sir, I am yet to " ..

My past three months have been sick with all weekend being spent in office . I am not going to let this weekend also to be spoiled ( but thas wat i say before all week ends ..) Am i too committed to work ? or a lazy worker ?

Planning for a "A mid Summers Night dream ' multi lingual play later today evrning .
Hopefully i manage to escape from the watchful eyes of my Boss and still manage to be in good books

Nothing as a joy of Completing a work

LAst week had been challenging with myself completing one of the two reports assigned to me . Actually i should have completed both by this friday , but many tasks interrupted me from doing so . Neverthless it gives me a confidence and reinforces my belief in my capabilities . Nothing succeeds like success and no joy as much as acheiving one s goal .. Goals are aplenty and i am reaching them one by one.
I gotta leave for mdu tomo for my photo session on voters ID . Hence leaving for mt office today . What a sincere man i am .? Why do i do this even after knowing that it doesnot pay to be sincere .. cause of hope . nothing else . Hope that i will succeed one day . The same hope that takes everybody to next da y in their life

The pros and cons ofLearning Something New

LEarning something new is pretty intersting . It brings in various ideas .fresh omes especially ..N\But when it is associated with tour job , it brings in a lot of insecurities . It is challenging .. Like Bond escaping from all the heavy weight villans and machinaries , but all this happens in my mind infront of a screen ..
and At every hurdle when we overcome it , it increases confidence level . It brings down the same when we dont do it . I hope i succeed and take my confidence level to to next level or atleast retain it ..

SO to me every new learning .. does have one major impact , increases or decreases confidence level ..? V r never the same ppl again

24 hrs will never do

It was a just another Day i Office . Typing a document , con call at ten thirty which lasted for an hour . The best thing again has been the discussion with kamesh ,India is growing , but will i grow ?
Yeah definitely !! WEn i ask for 48 hrs everyday i am growing !!

It has been really long since i posted .
I am back in chennai and took nearly four months to settle down .
Lots of things have happened in my life ever since i left chennai
1. My two months stay in mdu with what i am going to do next question ??
2. The ILP and friends i made ..
3. settling in Chennai
4. The hectic project days ....
well i reflect on each of these periods in coming posts ...

The best thing that happened today is my code fully worked with integrated code ...after one month of hard work .. and this abhinav sign off quote ..
