THE WAY BUSINESS IS DONE IN INDIA
This incident happened three months back . Suddenly i felt its very important to write abt this incident .
I was in the organizing committee of state Under-7 boys and girls Chess
Championship . IIT Saarang the cultural event of IIt - the best college in town was happening then . I had to miss it for i was deserious of earning some bucks then .As this is a event for kids and chess is not an enthusiastic sport sponsors dont come easy .I understood the way people do business during this event better .
I have organized two three events in my coll . Luckily we had contacts and sponsorship came easy . Though we could not make profit we could atleast break even and conduct the event at fairly high level .
In this event i was asked to try out for a few sponsors - fiven contact number of various organizations related to Kids and Chess .As I am just a young dude i dont have any contacts of any high level officials in any organizations .I was given a negative reply in all the organizations i approached . I wondered why ? I am not a very god marketing person , but i am sure people should have contributed atleast a few thousands with the way i spoke .
Then I was given contact Of the head of an Organization which trains people for Call centre jobs .Their field of interest is entirely different from chess or U-7 age group kids . I wondered why he should sponsor such a event . After talking with the head for some 10 min asusual he said no . He was very hostile to me . This was not surprising as i did not expect him to sponsor .
Then I told him I was sent my Mr. Ebenizer ,the head of Organizing committee.Now Mr. Ebenizer had met him in church and they went together for a prayer meeting in Bgl the previous weekend. When he came to Know it is Mr.Ebenizer who needs help he immediately agreed to sponsor . All the concepts of sponsorship that i had learnt - like mutual benefit - brand image building -all got shattered ..
Only then I realized that sponsorship is mutual favour .OrIt is given to people only in the same caste and religion . I got that sponsorship just cause both Mr. Ebenizer and the head of the organization visit same church every sunday I do it for me this time U do it for me some other time .All this concept of Organization is thrown out .
So its important that u know big shots in each Organization and should be in a position to do some favour to them ..Or atleast know persons who can do favour to such persons ..It hurts to know that India is in such a bad state in 21st Century

The Fondness Of Names
It is amazing that how attached people are to their names . Andrew Carnegie - America s biggest steel giant had said that remembering people s name is one of his biggest asset . This asset had helped him to win new friends and close many business deals.When u call people by their names the next time u meet they immediately get closer to you . They start forming the positive opinion abt the person . The sweetest words to each person is to their name . And this name is to be pronounced without any change in the stress and accent the way people pronounce it .
When I was in American School in my city to teach chess one of my students pronounced his name as "Yang Shi Ho ". I heard it differently and called him Hang Chi Ho . Its needless to say that i could not build rapport with that student . I do have problems remebering the Indian names . I asked people their name once and make it a point to repeat it twice. Even then i could not recollect them after ten minutes . I guess Its cause i find them insignificant in my life . I always remenber the names of people i admire . So I should start admieing each people and attach a significance to every person i meet afterall each and eveyone are unique in their own way .
And again its importatant to call just the way people wan ted themselves to be called . For example I want myself to be called as " viju ". When my friends start cal;ling "vijuboy" i get irritated . Though the notion of my friends is to express some fondness for me by calling me "vijuboy" . Perhaps they want to show their closeness to me . They donot want me to call the same way as others call me (" Could b that they are making fun of me by attaching the name boy inorder to remember that i am one " :-)). One of my friends -rushy also was not happy when i satarted calling her names other than "rushy" . To her she is rushy and attaches herself very closely with that name . She hates being called with other names . Thats how people are .
Remembering people s name and calling it exactly the same way they like it will win their heart at once .It may look simple to say .But not many people take strain to do that . One more issue regarding names - I am thinking myself of a good nickname like BOFI - ZORROW ..geek ..Zeus ..signifying any quality positive in me ..If u can think of any help me out ..

Back . Had two semester exams . two more to go . These exams are sickest part in my life . They dont make u learn anything new and dont allow u to do anything good. I am sick of these exams . Then had sams project to do . SO two days off at his home . He is the laziest of all friends i have had . Its really nice the Industrial engineers work . They work on creating mathematical models , quality concepts to represent real life systems . but the model hardly works . Q concepts rarely improve the syatems . But at last ppl show that things have improved . The confidence with which you could utter this lie determines the proficiency of my work . Well Leaving for Madurai tonight ..Missing the biz quiz tomo . One should really appreciate Chennai for it offers something to everyone .. Hats Off Chennai !! Hope u give me a 3 bedroom flat in Alwarpet To enjoy it also

My Final Year Tour-
At one in the night . Its the perfect time to blog if u have energy when all words sleep u r left undisturbed to pen your thoughts . ILast week i went to Munar. This was to be a special one as we are winding up our college life in another one month . Organizing a tour itself a big achievement and all credit should go to one particular person G d . Had it not been for this guy this plan wud hav got dropped . After zoomin in on the placce - Munar ( heard that it was good ) v made boardin arrangements throu one of my hostel friend .
V started our journey on The morning of Good Friday . As usual I am the last person to join the troop . The start got delayed by ten min coz of me . We picked up our classmates on our route yo outskirts of city . Its 14 hrs travel from chennai . The travel was very hard as it was not easy travelling through the dry lands of TamilNadu . It was very hot . After breaking at regular intervals for refreshments we started slimbing the hills at about nine . The journey was then delayed by two hours . The road had many hair pin bends and its really tough to sit inside the bus . I was sitting along with the driver for the most part of the journey . Just at the top of the hill when our resort looked nearer at abt 10 kms , we heard that the road is blocked due to work goin on in layin out optical fibres . This is the problem in India . Users are taken for a ride by public offices . So v came all the way down the hill and took the route in other side of the hill . The path was very steep and many a time it looked like v wud fall anytime . Atlast due to Gods Drace and drivers skill v reached the place by four in the morning . Everyone was damn tired and found their way straight to their bed .
V got up at abt ten and got ready for trekkin . I was incharge for arranging this . PPl were ptretty tired . V could have postponed the trekkin to next day . But for girls evrynone found energy . We walked for abt 4 Kms . The place was full of green all around . After reaching the factory at abt 12 ( V r supposed to reach by 11 )
v started climbing the tea estate . It was an excellent view from the narrow roads that carried as along the hill. It was tea plantation all the way . A few girls got tired and took rest at a staff quarters . After walking for abt 6 kms v reached the top of hill . Its an wonderfull experience for all of us . Everyone looked tired and exhausted . Then we started walking towards a lake some 2-3 kms from the place . We reached the lake by two thirty tired . V had a sense of achievemnt - satisfaction of completing a marathon in olympics . We had our lunch there played cards tooks shots and took an auto back .I was made incharge of carrying girls from auto to factory . I hunted 2-3 trips . I would have better enjoyed walking down all the way back . V did not visit any other place . too tired ..just slept the whole nite - ofcourse after playing cards till one in the night .
The next day we visted Top station - highest point in Munar . Its a a beauty to look at the hills from the top surrounded by mist .at its peak . The mountain ranges are quite steep in munar compared to other places . V visited a dam enroute to top station . on the way back we went for boating in another dam . It was a great place for boating with enough water. Its a beauty to watch water bodies surrounded by tall mountains . On the way back v paid a visit to Dr. House who helped us arrange the whole trip .Tht nite v shopped in Munar . Except for tea , spices and a few art materials there was nothing big to shop in the town . The whole town itself is quite small hardly one sq km..I bought strawberry jam for Rushy & Senthil . Both seem quitte happy with it .
The next day we went To rajamalai hills . Its a natural sanctuary to protect nilgiri goat . It was another nature s beauty . We could c clouds moving at shoulders height . Everyone was stoopified by the scenary and shot out hazaar photos . We went to a falls and a temple on the way back . Tht nite v had camp fire . I was made MC of the fn . Our class topper helped me out .That evening i would have spoke more than what i had spoken all the four ears combined with her .
The next day mornin we started our journey back . On the way bacj we stopped at thekadi . The boating there was an excellent experience . It was quite rainy and v enjoyed the whole sight . v could c elephants and deers . I was given the sole responsibility of photographing the those natural scenaries . Its a recogonition of creative sense i had shown my friends before . I did a good job . It was almost six by the time we came out of the sanctuary . We started our journey back and reached chn the next day mornin . Travellin is the worst part of the journey with quite a few vomitting in the middle . but for that the whole trip went on well. I enjoyed the beauty of Munar . those mist ,plantations ,beautiful flowers will remain for ever in my memory . if one asks me did u enjoy the company of the classmates i had spent four years with then i would reply a smile ..a smile that has helped me answer embarrasing questions

The joy Of Quizzing
If there is one activity in this world where i would not mind pledging rest of my life . It is the quizzing . There is nothhing that is equivalent to the joy that i get in answering one o the questions . Of all quizzes Biz Quiz is the shortest way to success .Thoughlot of questions can b asked It restricts you to a topic . We corporates dont carefully work on it and those hard core quizzers are not interested in working hard at this quiz . TOday i attended LIBA quiz conducted by pickbrain . One of the popular quiz master in this part of the world . One thing that add beauty to the quiz is the way he conducts the quiz . The quiz master must be jovial, shd have presence of mind apart from preparing tricky questions . pickbrain is a good master and all his quizzes are quite enjoyable . I am supposed to conduct his quiz on QUality yesterday but due to internal politics in my college the programme got cancelled . Its pity the administrators want to show off their power by doing stupid things like this . Poor guys they dont understand that they also show that they are stupid by doing such activities . Those guys who are in quizzing are quite crazy . There was one guy today who flew in from, SIngapore to attend the quiz . There were teams from Kolkata and Mumbai too . Such is the growing craziness of Quiz in this part of the world .
The best part of QUizzing is that there could b lot of questions unanswered even by a quiz master FOr Example V V ramanan is not all that good ion BIz quiz thou he is a famous quiz master . After all there are not many who can continously flex their grey cells to scale greater heights. As long as this challenge remains to the human community Quizzing will be enjoyed thoroughly in India and in the world

The Night
Night is the best time to work . when everyone sleeps the city wears a new look. Its a very discriminatice world . Its very much free of the disturbance created by one .
One fact that i have realised is that the wold is moved by a very select people . The rest of us are all passing the motions . The calmness and serenity of the time makes you forget all that we hate in this world . I wish we have long nights and short days but whatever the last two days have been best in every sense
